Perth to the Pinnacles by Road
How far the Pinnacles are from Perth by road (189 km), what lies on the way north at Yanchep, Guilderton, Lancelin and Cervantes, and where each tour from Perth stops.
The Pinnacles are 189 km by road from the centre of Perth, in Nambung National Park just south of Cervantes. The road runs north near the coast past Yanchep, Guilderton and Lancelin, and every tour from the city stops somewhere along it. If you want the sunset without the long drive home in the dark, Autopia Tours’ From Perth: Pinnacles Sunset and Stargazing Tour with Dinner does the driving, from US$137 a person (checked November 2026).
The price includes national park admission, and free cancellation runs until 24 hours before.
The road on the map

Parks and Wildlife Service WA, which manages the park, gives the distance as approximately 200 km north of Perth. Our 189 km is a routed road distance from the city centre to the Pinnacles, so your own figure depends on where in Perth you start.
What is on the way
Distances below are by road.
- Yanchep National Park, 53 km from Perth. The first stop for several tours, for koalas and kangaroos.
- Guilderton, 109 km short of the Pinnacles. Autopia Tours’ sunset tour stops at the lookout there, above the Indian Ocean and the Moore River.
- Lancelin, 127 km from Perth and 77 km before the Pinnacles. The big white dunes behind the town are where the sandboarding happens.
- The Pinnacles, 189 km from Perth, inside Nambung National Park.
- Hangover Bay, a beach 6 km from the Pinnacles.
- Cervantes, the town 20 km on from the Pinnacles, with the Lobster Shack and Lake Thetis 2.5 km away.
Where each tour stops

Autopia Tours’ sunset tour takes about an hour and a half to reach Guilderton Lookout, then visits Nilgen Nature Reserve in wildflower season or Hangover Bay before the park. Lumineer Adventure Tours' sunset tour drives about 90 minutes to Lancelin for sandboarding and a beach walk, then goes on to the Pinnacles Desert for sunset.
The day tours spread out more. Autopia Tours' Lobster Shack day trip stops in Yanchep, at Lake Thetis and at the Lobster Shack in Cervantes. Australian Pinnacle Tours' koalas and 4WD day starts at Caversham Wildlife Park in the Swan Valley, has lunch in Cervantes and comes back by the Lancelin dunes. Its sunset tour has dinner in a Cervantes tavern between the sunset and the stars.
What comes with each tour puts all the extra stops in one table.
Driving it yourself
You can drive to the Pinnacles in a hire car. At the park, the fee is A$17 per vehicle of up to 12 people, A$10 a motorcycle (Parks and Wildlife Service WA, checked November 2026). Inside, a one-way unsealed loop of about 4 km runs among the pillars, with pull-over bays; vehicles over 7 m, caravans and trailers cannot use it. Walkers and cyclists pay no fee.
The park’s rules, from not climbing on the pillars to no pets, are set out on pinnaclestour.com, which covers what Nambung National Park asks of visitors.
Two things a car does not do: it does not bring a telescope or a dinner, and someone has to drive the 189 km back to Perth after dark. If you are there for the sunset and the stars, a tour is the simpler way to go.
